ACE’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition recognises consultancy and engineering firms for projects that demonstrate a high degree of achievement, value and innovation.

Since its launch in 2008, the awards in 2010 will be in its third successive year. Consultancy and engineering firms have entered their most innovative projects and studies from all over the world are rated on the basis of: uniqueness and originality; future value to the engineering profession and perception by the public; social, economic, and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfilment of client/owner’s needs, including schedule and budget.

EEA entries are submitted into one of four project categories: building structures, building services, infrastructure and research studies and consulting. Each of these categories are then separated into sub categories of large, medium and small firms.

There is a special award, Engineering Ambassador Award which rewards and celebrates an individual who has made a significant contribution to raising the profile of consultancy and engineering. This award is open to anyone from a member firm who feels they have demonstrated a significant achievement in playing a leading role in promoting consultancy and engineering to a wide audience.

A distinguished panel of judges convene to critique the projects. These professionals have backgrounds in engineering, architecture, government, media, and academia. The panel of judges spends a week evaluating projects for engineering excellence, then selects a shortlist of 31 finalists to receive the following awards – winner, highly commended and commended.

ACE’s Engineering Excellence Awards 2010 provide member firms an opportunity to showcase their talent and expertise. The awards will be presented at in a dramatic setting at a gala dinner on Wednesday 14 April 2010 in London. Details of how to enter the awards is now available online
